My Favorite Things – Week 3

Week 3 already!? This might be one of my favorite weeks ..well of course they are all my favorite, but this week I wanted to create an experience for you, one of my favorite things to do at Christmas!! Cuddle up on the couch and watch my favorite Christmas movies, with my favorite person!

So this week the giveaway is…

-The coziest, softest blanket:
Even in the summer, I love cozying under a blanket on the couch with my favorite mister! This blanket is one of the softest I’ve ever felt!! Plus it is super cute!!!

-Cozy slipper socks:
When I am at home I am in my PJs (which often includes my slipper socks!!) even if we are going somewhere later that day! I joke with D that my love language is pajamas, they are comfortable, happy, cute, they don’t have to match and it’s all ok because they are pajamas!! To me, these socks are the perfect match of cute and comfy and function! You will LOVE them!!

-Home Alone & Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
These are two of my favorite Christmas movies!! Partly because they remind me of childhood memories of watching them with my brothers and everything Christmas! I couldn’t NOT share these with you!! They are perfect to watch while you are cuddled under this blanket!!

-Set of 4 Christmas word wine glasses (these are plastic, not glass)
I love drinking out of festive cups!! All year round even! These are too adorable! They say Shine (in gold), Joy (in silver), Peace (in red), and Noel (in green)! I love having sparkling cider in them! It feels fancy and it’s my favorite drink!! You’ll love toasting dinner with these glasses full of sparkling cider, water, or whatever you put in them!

-Dave Barnes Very Merry Christmas album (this will be sent through iTunes)
Last week I shared that this was one of my favorite Christmas albums and I can’t wait for you to listen to it!! It REALLY puts me in the Christmas spirit! Every song just makes my heart happy and I can’t help but sing along at the top of my lungs!! He is also really funny! If you have never seen any of his vides on youtube go check them out here!

-Orville Redenbacher’s Smartpop Kettle Korn
A few years ago, I discovered that I really like Kettle Korn! This smartpop is the best! It’s not greasy or super sugary it’s just perfect!! The perfect companion for Christmas movies I say!

-‘Twas the Night Before Christmas
This is my favorite version of the book! I have the same one that I set out each year! The whole thing just makes me so excited about Christmas!!

-Snowman mug
I love mugs! I have quite the collection!! And Christmas mugs are some of my favorite!! This one is soo cute!! I especially love the candy cane handle!!

-2 Candles: eco wix and North Pole Candy Shoppe
I love candles!! I have so many around the house, both for decoration and aroma! The eco wix has a wood wick that crackles when it burns! I love the sound!! The North Pole Candy Shoppe candle is so cute! These are going to just add to the feel of Christmas in your home!!

So there you have it!!! Week 3!!!

What is your favorite (or one of your favorite) Christmas memory?

Since Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year, I have so many favorite memories!! But I have to say one of my very favorite (and possibly slight embarrassing because of my behavior), was in December 1999, we had just moved to Germany. I didn’t have any friends, we were living in a hotel, I didn’t speak the language, we had no Christmas decorations or Christmas tree and I was devastated! My dad’s sponsor (when overseas, and perhaps in the states too, the active duty member gets assigned a sponsor – someone from their unit to help them get settled into their new duty station, for example our sponsor, picked us up from the airport, got us into a hotel, helped us find a house, took my dad to get groceries and other necessities…) was gracious enough to gift to us a small tree that his family had. And when I say small, I mean it was maybe 2 ft tall – (growing up we had real trees every year), and I, in my childhood selfishness, was upset! My mom (who is a very crafty lady) bought different wrapping paper, scissors, tape, a hole punch, and ribbon and brought it home (to the hotel) for us to cut out fun shapes, tape together and make our own ornaments! She was very excited about this, but I wouldn’t have it. I think I even cried (possibly more than once)! Yet, we made the ornaments, and my mom (gosh mom I love you sooo much!!) created the Christmassiest environment that she could in our current situation! That Christmas we also found friends (some of whom are still some of my very best friends) and a church, and we went Christmas caroling (which I have never done since and I wish soo badly to do it again!!)!! What I love most about that memory though, as rotten as my attitude was, I think even though I didn’t admit it at the time, it really opened my eyes to the real meaning of Christmas! Which is NOT gifts, decorations, a tree, sparkly lights, snow, or hot cocoa! It’s Jesus, and celebrating the birth of our King! It’s family and spending time together remembering that and spreading the Word of our Savior! So when I remember that Christmas, my first thought isn’t about how terrible it was because we didn’t have a live tree, or our decorations, it’s of God and the gifts He has given us, and of how much He loves me that He gave me a mom that loves me and cares for me so much that she did everything she could to make it feel like Christmas, even though I was being a brat! I still have a few of those Christmas ornaments, I get teary eyed when I see them! They are some of my favorites and they get hung on our tree every year!

You can also earn 2 bonus entries!! These entries are not required, but remember they won’t be accepted without the required entry.

  • stefani thornton - My favorite Christmas memory was when we were living in NY the first time and we were living in a small apartment. Dad was in Iraq and we had to make a tree out of butcher paper and a chimeny out of butcher paper. It was one of the best.ReplyCancel

  • Elizabeth Hagan - My favorite Christmas memory was my daughters, Harper, first Christmas. I was so excited for this and to begin our own family traditions, the ones that I still hold close to my heart that my family started. I knew she would be too little to remember anything from this day because she was only six months but that didn’t stop me! I couldn’t sleep the night before, just like when I was a kid and waiting to see what Santa had brought. We took so many pictures and I love pulling them out every year during this time and remembering how special that first Christmas was.ReplyCancel

  • Cailey - I have that blanket, it’s sooooo soft! <3ReplyCancel

  • Heather Koehn - I have so many amazing Christmas memories! When I was growing up my brothers and I would wake up super early and sneak downstairs just to look at the Christmas tree/presents before we woke up our parents. It was always a moment of awe because “Santa” always outdid himself, and such a great time of bonding for me and my brothers! These days my favorite memories are the ones that I am blessed enough to build with my own family <3 We don't do "Santa", so this year we are starting a new tradition of baking cookies before bed and enjoying them with milk and family time!ReplyCancel

  • Alyssa - My favorite Christmas memory is picking up my fiancé from the airport for our wedding on the 27th. 2nd favorite was when I was a little kid sitting on my bed with both of my older brothers watching the clock tick down to 6 am so we could bounce our parents out of bed. (We had a strict rule about not waking them before 6.)ReplyCancel

  • Kristen - I grew up on a Cut Your Own Christmas Tree Farm, each year we would have families come and pick out their Christmas tree. I loved helping each family pick the most perfect tree for their house. It was my favorite time of year, meeting new people, seeing familiar faces and enjoying the season with my family.ReplyCancel

  • Charlotte Hines - I have two favorite Christmas memories, and each of them are my babies’ first Christmases! It was so fun to watch them, even though they had no clue what was going on! They were excited and playful and a little overwhelmed. You could definitely see how happy they were, and how magical they thought it all was. I loved it. I can’t wait for Christmas this year, now that they are a TINY bit older. My oldest is talking non stop about Santa.ReplyCancel

  • Beth - Liked you on Facebook!

  • LoryBeth Dawson - I already have ya on FB :)
Looking back, I think my favorite Christmas memories are all of them with my mom in them. Even when it was just her raising us girls and there were very few presents, she did everything to make it a special day. We always had breakfast, classic christmas music playing, and laughing all around. It was her favorite holiday and every year I think about how much she loved it.ReplyCancel
